Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄第一科技大學 === 電腦與通訊工程系碩士專班 === 106 === With the full digitization of cable television and the prevalence of cloud services, people’s demand for broadband has become increasingly strong. According to information released by the National Communications Commission, the current digital service penetration rate in Taiwan has reached 95.84%. For cable TV operators, the existing infrastructure is no longer in line with market demand. The industry has continued to set off an upsurge in the large-scale transformation of the access network with “using optical fiber to replace cooper”. The access network represented by the Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) is increasingly favored by major telecom operators due to its low cost and simple maintenance. On the other hand, the broadband network is already one of the important policies of governments in various countries. It is also because of the infrastructure construction that represents the performance of a country in improving economic and technological capabilities. This study will explore the benefits of introducing a GPON network to cable TV operators to explore why operators have begun to invest in building GPON networks at the same time.
