Nowadays education emphasize on multi-cultural, the local culture education should display variety features. This study mainly discusses the development process of local cultural curriculum and the degree of students understanding the connotations in a rural elementary school in Kaohsiung. The action research was used in this study. The researcher selected the six-grade students as researching members. An ecological education about butterfly was selected as topic to develop a series of local cultural curriculum. The results show that students to recognize local cultural connotation by this curriculum and relative teaching activity. The researcher suggests that the ecological education should be integrated into the other fields in the future and become part of the school-based curriculum.
