Fewer men are willing to join the military because of the changes in the economy and industrial structure. However, there are women who are willing to join the military as their career but the research in this subject is limited. Therefore, this study focused on the personality traits of female officers and explore their journey to the military. This study adopts the in-depth interview method in qualitative research. Through semi-structured interviews, the loose topics are used as interview outlines to guide the interviewees and present the real feelings. This study interviewed three female commissioned and non-commissioned officers. The purpose of this study is to gain deeper understanding of the interviewees’ personality traits and career paths. In the results of the study, we found that women who can rise and shine in the military. They have the personality traits that are brave enough to challenge and willing to accept challenges, and they are optimistic and positive about the various challenges in the military. Furthermore, family’s unconditional support is also an important factor for higher self-assurance in the military. Finally, I also provide practical advice on the findings and conclusions of this study. In the future recruitment, the military can focus on people with challenging and optimistic personality traits, and list them as key targets to promote the military for the purpose of recruitment.
