| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立屏東大學 === 中國語文學系碩士班 === 106 === This study aims to explore the selection of new words and word frequency of Mandarin textbooks in elementary school, according to the “Grade 1-9 Curriculum Guidelines” on 2008 and “The Report of the Frequency Words Used by School Children”. The results are as follows.
1. Analysis of the quantity of word knowledge: The individual quantity of word knowledge from the three Mandarin textbook versions does not meet the requirement of 700-800 words at the first learning stage. Nan I version and Han Lin version do not meet the requirement of 1500-1800 words at the second learning stage. The three versions of Mandarin textbooks meet the requirement of the quantity of word knowledge in elementary Mandarin textbooks. They all meet the requirement of 2200-2700 words.
2. Analysis of the new word frequency: In Nan I version, the most frequently used words under the number from 1 to 2818 word frequency are 2064, which accounts for 86.4%. In Kang Hsuan version, the most frequently used words under the number from 1 to 2818 word frequency are 1984, which accounts for 86.4%. In Han Lin version, the most frequently used words under the number from 1 to 2818 word frequency are 2038, which accounts for 87.4%.
3. Analysis of the unselected high frequency words: Of the unselected high frequency words under the number from 1 to 1639, the words not selected in Nan I version are 198, which accounts for 12.1%. The words not selected in Kang Hsuan version are 253, which accounts for 15.4%. The words not selected in Han Lin version are 205, which accounts for 12.5%.
4. The number of repeated writing words: There are 31 words in Nan I version, which accounts for 1.3%. There are 18 words in Kang Hsuan version, which accounts for 0.8%. There are 23 words in Han Lin version, which accounts for 1.0%.
5. The total number of words from volume 1 to 12 in the three versions is 23, 40, 15, 7, 3, 4, 2, 5, 5, 1, 3, and 1. It shows that with the increase of grades, the number of words decreases.
6. The same new words in the three different versions are 1448, which accounts for 61% in Nan I version, for 63% in Kang Hsuan version, and for 62% in Han Lin version.
