Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立屏東科技大學 === 農企業管理國際碩士學位學程 === 106 === Edamame soybean is one of exporting vegetables from East Java of Indonesia. Jember Regency is one of the centers of edamame’s production in Indonesia. Nowa days Edamame in Jember Regency is planted in more than 524.16 hectares. In addition, Indonesia performance will be compared to the performance of other exporting countries like China, Taiwan Thailand, and Vietnam. The choice of these countries is to inspect regional balance and the different trading and tariff systems in the Japan market. Taiwan monopolized the Japanese market in the past, but now 50% of Japan’s imports come from China, followed by 34% from Taiwan, 13% from Thailand, and 3% from other countries, including Indonesia and Vietnam. From that above statement, this study wants to examine the comparative advantages among 5 countries (China, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam), to inspect the market shares of Indonesia, the position of Indoenesia and to evaluate what factors affect the Indoensia market share in Japan market. The analysis tools using Revealed Comparative Advantages (RCA) to know the comparative advantages among Indonesia and competitor countries in Japan Market, Market Share Index (MSI) to know the market share of Indonesia and the competitor countries in Japan Market, Constant Market Share(CMS) to know the rate of growth of a country's exports in a period when it is unable to keep up with growth as fast as the average export growth in the Japanese market and Regression Analysis to know the factor affect the market share of Indonesia in Japan Market. The dataset using exporting countries (China, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia) export quantity and export value of edamame from 1995 -2015 to Japan. The result of the revealed comparative advantage are Taiwan and Thailand have comparative advantage in the export of edamame, China has gradually reduced its comparative advantage in the Japanese market and Indonesia and Vietnam have a negative level of comparative advantage in the export of edamame to the Japanese market, but Indonesia is mitigating the comparative disadvantage of trade performance. Based on market share index results, the competitiveness of Indonesia’s edamame export, the market share index has explained that Indonesia has been less competitive compared to China, Taiwan and Thailand. Indonesia’s value market has experienced a steady increase. Constant market share has founded, Indonesia’s uncompetitive effect can be attributed mainly to structural effects (growth of the market) and not to increased competitiveness. the increasing of Indonesia’s export value was 94,141yen. Of this increase, 54.13% can be attributed to structural effect (growth of the market) and 41.76% to competitive effect. On the contrast, Taiwan and Thailand increase respectively the export value, Therefore, Taiwan and Thailand have proved to be the strongest contenders in comparison with China, Vietnam and Indonesia. The result of linear regression analysis indicates a negative and statistically significant relationship between the price ratio of Indonesia and its quantity market share. This study has shown that in the Japanese market, Indonesia has improved its performance in terms of specialization, but it has failed to measure up in terms of competitiveness relative to the performance of especially Taiwan and Thailand.
