Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中山大學 === 中國與亞太區域研究所 === 106 === Technological devices have become an essential part of modern society, and the integrated circuit is the heart of all technological devices. When the economy experiences rapid growth, the increased demand for smart devices consequently results in a larger demand for integrated circuits. This situation is what has been occurring in China in recent years, and thus integrated circuits have already replaced oil as the most frequently imported goods to China since 2014. Since China currently lacks the ability to manufacture integrated circuits, it relies solely on integrated circuits that are manufactured abroad. However, the consequence of doing so allows China to be economically manipulated by other countries, which is a serious concern for the Chinese government. Therefore, the government has been making efforts to stimulate national production by implementing policies that support the development of integrated circuits. This thesis will focus on the interaction between the Chinese government and itsmarket in how they both influence China’s integrated circuit industry, by means of discussing industrial clusters, competitive advantage, and regional economic development. Through data and document analysis, it can be concluded that although China’s integrated circuit industry has received considerable governmental aid, it is not yet able to maintain competitiveness with more technologically advanced countries.
