Summary:碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 教育學系教育行政與管理碩士在職專班 === 106 === This study aims to explore whether the application of pictures in story teaching to senior high school English learning underachievers can improve the learning achievement and explore the student satisfaction in this remedial program. The study was conducted by 60 students in the second year of a private high school in central Taiwan. The students are randomly divided into control group and experimental group. Control group students receive traiditional translation method, while experimental group students receive the application of pictures in story teaching method. The eight-week experiment was conducted through the implementation of English remedial program. The results of the study found that after the application of pictures in story teaching, the post-test scores has significant improvement than the previous test results. However, the study also shows that there is significant difference in the pretest and posttest of the control group. Moreover, even the results of the posttest in control groups is superious than experimental group. After the completion of 8th week the application of pictures in story teaching, the students will have an English learning satisfaction questionnaire in order to realize their degrees of satisfaction in three dimensions: (1) learning attitude; (2) learning improvement; (c) learning self-confidence. The results of the study found that: 1. The application of pictures in story teaching can not only improve the interests in English learning. 2. The application of pictures in story teaching helps students to memorize and understand English vocabulary. 3. The application of pictures in story teaching helps students to increase self-confidence and makes students be willing to pay more attention in English learning.
