He was a precursor of a performer by memorizing the whole piece in the recital. Moreover, Liszt had created an orchestral effect on the piano, and a new form of the musical genre called “symphonic poem”. Liszt was good at to recompose different type of works to piano works from other composers, no matter symphonies, concertos, or other instrumental works. The purpose of the study was to investigate Liszt’s “Valse de Faust” through to understand the development of the transcribe works, the life story of Liszt, and his piano music and characteristic. The idea of the Liszt’s “Valse de Faust” was taken from an opera “Faust” second scene ‘Waltz’ by Charles Franois Gounod. The context of this paper included both background information and compositional practice of Gounod’s ‘waltz’ from an opera “Faust” and Liszt’s “Valse de Faust”; furthermore, to compare with these two compositions’ similarity and difference. Lastly, the author aimed at the form, key signature, melody of the study Liszt’s compositional style. In the performing aspect, the author discussed three different features to apply in a performing way by tempo, pedal, and dynamics. The consequence of the study found that Liszt’s “Valse de Faust” was an arrangement technique which runs through the use of the decorative elements of the composition , the variations of the musical line, the re-create of the work and the virtuosity of the arrangement style. Those changing not only keep and advertise the original composition, but also a new style of the work. In addition, the performance of the music, the speed of the music, and the dynamic and the way to use pedal were important performing points and; also, more closed to the idea of Liszt’s “Valse de Faust”. This paper expected to increase readers the knowledge of Liszt’s piano music and the proper interpretation of this study in this paper. WU, CHING-JEN 吳京珍 2018 學位論文 ; thesis 112 zh-TW |
