The questionnaire survey method has been conducted, and based on stratified sampling, there are 280 teachers within 23 schools in Taipei and 19 schools in Keelung involved in this research. The main findings are as follows: 1.The score of ‘sense of humor’ is higher than median and the dimensions from high to low are ‘attitudes toward humor and humorous people’, ‘uses of humor for coping’, ‘social uses of humor’ and ‘creation and performance’. 2.The score of ‘teaching efficiency’ is also higher than median, the dimensions from high to low ‘teacher-student interaction’, ‘teaching strategy’, ‘teaching plan’. 3.The total scores of ‘the sense of humor’ and ‘teaching efficiency’ of teachers in Taipei city are significantly higher than in Keelung city. 4.The total scores of ‘attitudes toward humor and humorous people’, the age group of ‘26-30’ is significantly higher than ‘under 25’, ’41-45’ and ‘over 50’, moreover, the ‘31-35’ is significantly higher than ‘under 25’, ’31-35’ and ’41-45’; the total scores of ‘teaching effectiveness’, the age group of ‘over 50’ is significantly higher ‘under 25’, ’31-35’, ’36-40’, furthermore, the teaching length group of ’21-25’ is significantly higher ‘6-10’ and ’11-15’, moreover, ‘over 26’ is significantly than ‘under 5’, ‘6-10’ and ’11-15’. 5.‘The sense of humor’ and ‘teaching efficiency’ show median correlations. 6.Based on the stepwise regression, ‘teaching efficiency’ has been positively influenced by ‘uses of humor for coping’. 7.Based on canonical correlation analysis, the ‘uses of humor for coping’ has high positive influence on ‘teaching plan’, ‘teacher-student interaction’ and ‘teaching strategy’ from the first pair of canonical variablesχ1 (ρ=.46). Hence, promoting the ‘uses of humor for coping’ on the ‘sense of humor’ can increase ‘teaching efficiency’ efficiently.
