Data is collected through questionnaires, with 886 valid samples gathered from senior students enrolled at public elementary schools in New Taipei City. The conclusions are as follows: 1) The situational interest of senior students at New Taipei City elementary schools tends to be above average. 2) The reading behavior of senior students at New Taipei City elementary schools tends to be above average. 3) There is no significant difference in students’ situational interest and reading behavior based on the sharing of books and computers among different grades or classes. 4) The weekly reading class results in significant differences in the students’ reading behavior but not their situational interest. 5) Female senior students at the elementary schools exhibit greater situational interest than male students. 6) When a learning corner is set up in the classroom, the students are more likely to explore, take up challenges, and have a stronger sense of enjoyment and novelty. 7) A stronger sense of enjoyment and novelty as well as better concentration are observed in students at schools that offer e-book lending. 8) There are significant differences in the reading behavior of senior elementary school students according to their gender, the presence of a learning corner in the classroom, the availability of e-book lending services, and the presence of weekly reading classes. 9) The situational interest of senior elementary school students has a significantly positive effect on their reading duration and frequency.
