Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 兒童文學研究所 === 106 === The history of Christian Children’s Literature in Taiwan may start from the time of Dutch missionaries came Taiwan but at that time the Christian books Taiwanese children read were about doctrine. When it came to the time Taiwan under Japanese ruled and the years after Taiwan’s recovery (1945-1980), the publications about Christian children’s literature in Taiwan were focused on Bible stories or moral stories. Until 2000, the Christian publications for Taiwanese children became various but the contents were still emphasized on Christian education. However; Toasheng, one of the Taiwanese Christian publishers, published many children’s book whose themes aren’t limited to Bible stories and got many awards on its children’s books. The present study is focused on Taosheng’s Children books. It analyzed those children books published by Taosheng from 2000 to 2017 and explored the education, art, literary and religion in those children’s books. It also discovered Taosheng’s history, the motive of publishing children’s books by interviewing Toasheng’s editors and some related people. At the final part, it discussed Toasheng’s role as it is a Christian publisher. This theory shows that the themes of Taosheng’s children’s books has become various with different times. The content isn’t only included education and religion, but also literary, art and humor. Toasheng’s children books are not only for the Christians but also for every child in Taiwan. The purpose of its publishing is to give children happiness from reading, not only to preach or to educate. Unlike other Christian publishers which have strong religious meaning in their publications, Toasheng embeds the Christian education with its various picture books and its reading guides
