Description
Summary:博士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 書畫藝術學系 === 106 === According to sculptor Masatoshi Izumi,”the stone knows all, but does not speak” “The wind has sculpted the stone, leaving grooves which will one day return to the beginning, so that we can only glimse an instant of it all.” This is his metaphor for the life in stone. Izumi’s work combines reflection on the natural world with observation of the human environment. This paper is based on the useless stone as creation. The main theme of the book is rubbing the paper and writing the symbol. Through the work, the ordinary but tenacious stone is used to search for a deeper meaning of life in a changing environment. Because I have been living abroad and often in different culture zones I sometimes felt like an outsider. However, in time my world became my home. Therefore, using the creation of stone to explore the basics of nature, the values of society, the doubts of change, I insisted on the essence of ink painting to convey to the public my current mental journey using the traditional tool of the Orient such as brush, ink, rice paper etcetera. My work is about the reality of the environment, creating out of that an alternative artistic environment. Through the analysis of comparative interpretation of Oriental and Western literature and the practice of self-creation my thesis explores the context and the direction of individual ink painting. The analysis of theory and the process of creation in addition to experiments with materials, will result in an expansion of the breadth of thinking. This is important to master the expression of form and technique . This thesis also points out the importance to have a concept of thinking before the actual operation of painting. After understanding the whole process this will deepen the creative part and in future will enhance the diversity of Ng's work.
