(Building Information Modeling) science management technology and application development have gradually gotten attention from many government agencies, the construction industry and related units in Taiwan and oversea countries. However, comparing the fact of BIM introduction between Taiwan to other countries, Taiwan is lagging behind to promote policies, technologies and processes. At present, under the BIM examination service platform built in Taipei and New Taipei City Governments, only BIM E-Check work on large-scale public projects are required. In most of the remaining projects, the examination works are still finished by traditional way; human review. It shows that the BIM system has not yet been fully popularized in Taiwan. According to the recent literatures and investigation reports, the BIM utilization and acceptance rate of AEC industry is quite lower in the southern than the northern region of Taiwan; it is an unbalance situation between those two regions. This study will analyze "Kaohsiung LOHAS Building" ordinances and use BIM_based design checking method of "Kaohsiung LOHAS Building" to improve BIM utilization rate of Architect offices, where locate in the southern region, by introduce BIM in the planning and designing phases ahead. This study takes the advantages of BIM system, which can add building property data and information, and uses object-oriented concepts to resolve the ordinance requirements of "Kaohsiung LOHAS Building" certification. The study exercises the Autodesk Revit 2018 software to establish and add the proper family component units and database. By expanding the component property field, architects can make decision adjustments faster and more direct for relevant designs of "Kaohsiung LOHAS Building" assessment in the designing phase. Any changes in the design drawings will be synchronized to other related design drawings, tables, and documents. The results of the case validation show that the study of design checking method for Kaohsiung LOHAS Building provides a method for the BIM introduction from the architectural planning phase in the southern region. This will not only improve the efficiency of design decision analysis, but also maximize the extendable applications and achieve higher economic benefits, and to promote the development of the subsequent application of BIM under the building concession checking process in the southern region.
