碩士 === 聖約翰科技大學 === 工業工程與管理系碩士在職專班 === 106 === Many domestic enterprises face the challenges of high unemployment rates, low compensation, lack of food safety, and environmental pollution in recent years. These issues have prompted the public to focus on the importance of enterprises fulfilling corporate social responsibility while maximizing profits for shareholders. To help businesses improve their corporate governance, the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) encourages the adoption of a comprehensive corporate governance mechanism. In addition to releasing “The Blueprint for Strengthening Corporate Governance in Taiwan” in 2013, the FSC further conducted the first corporate governance evaluation in Taiwan in 2014 and released the “Corporate Rules Governing the Preparation and Filing of Corporate Social Responsibility Reports by TWSE Listed Companies.” Strengthening corporate governance is an effective way to ensure the smooth operation of a business as a healthy corporate governance culture is the cornerstone of an enterprise. Businesses with a stable foundation are more motivated to fulfill corporate social responsibilities. And a positive image will further help increase the operating efficiency of an enterprise. This study aims to examine the correlation between corporate social responsibility and financial performance using descriptive statistics and analysis of variance. The empirical results found that the implementation of corporate governance and fulfillment of corporate social responsibility have a positive impact on financial performance and profitability.
