Summary: | 碩士 === 大仁科技大學 === 製藥科技研究所 === 106 === Medication error refers to patient’s condition getting worsen or getting harmed by preventable events during the treatment such as inappropriate prescription by doctors, dispensation of medications by pharmacists, medication administration by nurses, or errors in administration operations. Related medical personnel may make some mistakes because of knowledge, technology, communication, negligence or operating systems, work environment, and other factors. According to statistics, there are several thousands of people died because of medication error, many of the cases are related to the misuse of drugs, wrong drugs being dispensed, wrong dosage prescribed by doctors, or patients not following the doctor’s advice. Since there are many kinds of drugs in the current market, it is reasonable to assume that patients will expose to higher chances getting affected by drug errors when they go to pharmacy in medical institutions because of their busy operations and the huge load of patients. Moreover, it is without a doubt that many of these patients are facing the risks of polypharmacy due to chronic diseases. Thus, an effective and easy-to-use drug information and visual recognition system would be an important auxiliary tool to obtain. Nowadays, the price of health insurance drugs fluctuates from time to time, causing the medical institutions to replace medications and thus changing the prescription.These minor changes might affect the elderly patients the most because the hospitals cannot update the drug information in time. Consequently, Medication error is most likely to occur. In this study, we have developed a drug information and appearance identification system that integrates the pros of the existing domestic search platforms. At the same time, we have built a mobile application version enabling the public and medical professionals to get access to the information instantly and conveniently. In this way, the occurrence of mediation errors can be greatly prevented.
