Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 光電工程系 === 106 === In this study, we propose a multi-angle director model to describe and analyze the electro-optical characteristics of a blue phase liquid crystal (BPLC) cell, and we study the relation of phase and cell gap. The director model satisfies characteristics of a BPLC cell: (1) It is optically isotropic when there is no electric field. (2) It has no threshold voltage. In this thesis, we improve the director model by substituting a BPLC layer with nematic liquid crystal (NLC) layers which have various pretilt angles. It can be found that the simulation result corresponds to the experiment result very well. In the experiment, we used the Zeeman laser to measure the optical path of each BPLC cell, and calculate the phase. These BPLC cells have different cell gaps. We discussed and compared the measurement results with the theory. It can be found that the measurement results agree with multi-angle director model simulation very well.
