Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 應用英文系 === 106 === English has been an international language throughout the world. When it comes to the four skills, writing plays an important role in language learning in Taiwan, especially for senior high school students. In order to get a higher score in the College Entrance Examination, students should be taught how to complete a well-organized composition with substantial content in three years. This study attempted to examine how senior high school students adopted writing strategies to develop their writing process. This study contained three instruments, including online writing tasks, the strategies checklist, and interviews for students and teachers. Participants consisted of ten senior high school students and four English teachers, who teach in senior high school in New Taipei City. Several results were found in this study. First, the strategies the students generally used in the process of EFL writing were in planning category, such as local planning strategy and conclusion planning strategy. Second, factors causing writing difficulties in this study lie in two aspects, such as language aspect and content aspect. Finally, four teachers regarded the content issue as the top priority to teach. With the direct teaching approach, such as structure training and strategy learning, teaching should be proceduralized through practice. Pedagogical implications for English instruction and suggestions for future research were provided at the end of the study.
