As a result, it was founded on 5 September 1944, when the governments of the three countries (still in exile in London) signed a customs union agreement which came into effect on 1 January 1948. The acronym ''Benelux'' incorporates the names of the three countries (Belgique/België, Nederland, Luxembourg). The Benelux Union brings together the kingdoms of Belgium and the Netherlands as well as the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. And the members of Benelux have common historical and cultural background, religious tradition, similar civilization and values of Europe. They been together to be stronger, and consequently, establishing the European Union. Furthermore, the original members of what came to be known as the European Communities were the Inner Six: Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Italy, and West Germany. The Low countries have preserved common cultural value and strengthened their position through the Benelux platform. This thesis works on the strategy for existence and development in the Benelux Union with the process of European integration. The study presents sets out to formulate the necessary requirements for putting in place a strategy aimed at the sustainable development of the Benelux Union. It is concluded that the quality of the Benelux union and, in particular, the BE, NE, LUX are crucial to the regionalization of European Union benefits.
