This paper analyzes the variables that affect the performance of reading literacy among Taiwanese junior high school students in order to provide an interrelation of the variables and put forward practical references. In this paper, 44 seventh graders of a junior high school in New Taipei City (which won a prize as a New Taipei City reading school) were sampled to evaluate the indicators by using the periodic assessment test response model. The quasi-experimental method was used to analyze the explanatory power of each indicators. The data analysis results indicate that the average scores of the experimental group before and after the test are better than the control group, and the student learning opinion questionnaire of the experimental group shows that about 80% of the students hold a positive opinion of the PISA reading literacy in the Chinese language teaching. However, statistical analysis based on quasi-experimental studies has no significant difference between the two groups. The assessment is based on research limitations, such as sample size and teaching time. It is not appropriate to make excessive inferences for the exploration of specific issues. It also explores the current trend of PISA reading literacy in the country-wide education, implements the spirit of “self-development, interaction, mutual goodness” and “lifelong learning” in the 108 course guideline, and provides references for teachers to promote reading literacy education.
