His solo instrumental music, orchestral music or varied chamber music, etc. contain some unique music language. Among all his dance music compositions, there are some dance music or music of dance drama that are quite fresh and are created only for some dancers, such as Cloud Gate's Expectation and Liao Tian-Ding, Huang Lih-Shiun's Peacock's Flying Toward The South-East; some dancers directly adopt his ready-made compositions, such as Liu Feng-Shueh's Flying Fish In Silence. It is made out by deconstructing and newly synthesizing the components of Ma Shui-Long's three compositions: Conception, Image And Music, For Pi-Pa And String Quartet and Searching; besides, some ready-made compositions of Ma Shui-Long's are adapted for the music of some dance dramas, such as Liu Feng-Shueh's Sacrifice Of Snow (also named The Injustice to Dou E) and Wielding Sword Along Chilly Wujiang (Wu River). In 2012, Ma Shui-Long cooperated with Liu Feng-Shueh to make public the Dance Drama Wielding Sword Along Chilly Wujiang, which is his last dance music composition. Its incidental music derives from another composition of Ma Shui-Long's. The composition is based upon his “Speech-Sing-Drama” (quasi Singspiel) Xiang Yu And His Concubine, the premiere of which was performed in 1997. The incidental music of the Singspiele was adapted to become that of a dance drama with more room for the plots to develop. The choreographer, Liu Feng-Shueh, choreographs anew the story of Xiang-Yu And His Concubine by virtue of her unique artistry and thus she lets people, the audience, have a broad angle to penetrate the political schemes and powers and the varied mentality of human nature during a war and to expound anew the historical event , which has been eulogistically transmitted from generation and generation for thousands of years. This research is intended to study the course how the original Singspiel Xiang Yu And His Concubine is changed into the dance drama Wielding Sword Along Chilly Wujiang and how it is presented as a dance drama after its change. Firstly, the research generally accounts for the creative background of the Singspiel Xiang Yu And His Concubine and its libretto. Then, it is intended to study the origin of the composer's cooperating with the choreographer and to study the creative course of the Dance Drama Wielding Sword Along Chilly Wujiang. After that, it is intended to induct and to analyze the adapting method of the Dance Drama's incidental music. And then, in the western way of musical analysis, it proceeds to the mode, tonality, scale, rhythm and motive development to analyze and compare the music and plot composition of these two creations. Then, the study is on the difference which is presented on the occasion that the music of the Singspiel Xiang Yu And His Concubine is performed in the Dance Drama Wielding Sword Along Chilly Wujiang. 顏綠芬 2018 學位論文 ; thesis 250 zh-TW |
