Description
Summary:碩士 === 大同大學 === 化學工程學系(所) === 106 === Fenton reaction is one of the advanced oxidation processes that ferrous ions react with hydrogen peroxide to produce hydroxyl radicals with strong oxidation power to treat organic wastewater. The traditional Fenton method might generate a lot of sludge. Thus there are several modified Fenton methods that were investigated to avoid the sludge problem. In this study, the Fenton-like reaction using goethite particles as catalyst was tried to decompose benzoic acid and azo dye in synthetic wastewater. The results showed that the Fenton-like reaction for the degradation of the azo dye is more effective than that for benzoic acid. In acid conditions, the best removal rate of benzoic acid is about 30% while that of dye is about 80%. The optimal operating condition of the initial concentration of benzoic acid and the dye were 30 ppm and 10 ppm, respectively in this study. The optimal dosage of hydrogen peroxide is 1.2 g. The commonly used pseudo first order kinetic model was not adequate to fit the kinetic data since the Fenton-like reaction of benzoic acid and azo dye degradation involves complicated reaction mechanism.
