Description
Summary:碩士 === 臺北市立大學 === 運動教育研究所 === 106 === Purpose: This study examined the relationship between transformation leadership and team commitment, and identified the mediating role of basic psychological needs satisfaction within the relationship. Method: The participants were 196 athletes (141 males, 55females; 20.61 years old) recruited from different college team sports at the highest level. Data were collected by administering a battery of questionnaires under a practice condition. Results: There was a positive relationship between transformation leadership and emotional commitment, whereas a negative relationship between transformation leadership and instrumental commitment. Furthermore, transformation leadership could directly impact team commitment and indirectly influence team commitment via basic psychological needs satisfaction. Conclusion: When athletes perceive more transformation leadership from coaches, their emotional commitment would increase and instrumental commitment would decrease. The effects are from the coaches' leadership or the satisfaction of basic psychological needs. These findings are helpful for coaches to build up team commitment.
