Intensive population with limited public spaces in the urban city makes the new residents have less opportunity to connect with neighbors. It is also an important issue to implement the connections and action to care for the environment when developing urban communities. This study is based on “Art Intervention in the Community Projects” funded by the Taipei Fine Arts Museum. By using documentation, participant observation and grounded theory method to analyze community artistic creative process, discuss operating mode, cooperation network and impact.
According to the results of the study, there are three types of operating method and corporate network for the Art Intervention in the Community. First, Outsider Workstation type: artists were supported by outsider workstation, which has two projects run at once and connects the local community. Artist's creation can reconnect local people and outsider workstation together. Second, Local Community type: Chief of community is an artist, not only can coordinate all resources to make creation, but also cooperate with local primary school. Third, The Split of the Local Community type: The artists team up with the residents when the chief of community and the artists do not have same ambition. After all, the chief of the community could only maintain creation in a minimal way. The impact of the Art Intervention in the Community is evolving self-identify, interactions, and the connection between art and neighbourhood. Art intervention in the community is not only to build up personal experience of aesthetics and the adventure for the artist but also facilitate the imagination and participation for the public.
