Research methods took place in two stages. In the first stage, this researcher participated in the International Design Competition seminar series to understand international experts’ viewpoints of poster design. Based on the grounded theory, coding analysis was performed on the discourse given by Xavier Bermudez, director of International Poster Biennale in Mexico to create a paradigm model. This was supplemented with design viewpoints provided by Mehdi Saeedi from Iran and Ignatius Hermawan Tanzil from Indonesia to aggregate common contexts. In the second stage, during the preliminary consolidation of viewpoints provided by international experts, deep-dive questions were developed and used in interviews with local experts and scholars including Professors Ken-Tsai Lee, Chun-Liang Lin and Shih-Chieh Hung. Finally, results from the two stages were compared comprehensively and integrated to understand international positions, value and designers’ own design responsibilities and build a ‘paradigm model for international views of poster design’. From the results, the following conclusions are drawn. (1) Design creations are achieved by incorporating representations with designers’ own thinking. (2) Contexts of cultural observations can be discerned through visual modeling of design creations. (3) Messages can be communicated to target audiences more clearly through repeated observation, reorganization and reflection. (4) Creation techniques (use of colors, images and tools) must be connected with represented intentions. (5) Design creations reflect designers’ care for the society and the environment. To sum up the exploration of posters from the international perspective in this research, the overall results can be divided into two aspects. Apart from connecting the vision of visual communication design with the world and exploring awareness of internal issues in poster design, this research also provides some reference viewpoints for future designers. (I) Current poster development trends in the world: (1) Despite facing decline, posters have sublimated into preservation and communication of artisticity. (2) Designers are gradually developing animation of still images, which is a new pattern of poster design transformation. (3) Consideration and application of images still exist in the essence of poster medium transformation. (II) Attitudes to participation in international poster design competitions: (1) Focus on the essence of exploration without being confined within the bounds of representations and techniques. (2) Communicate messages accurately and connect and incorporate things with viewpoints. (3) Pursue differentiation and contemplate the unique parts of personal poster designs. (4) Embody personal social responsibility in poster designs and connect with international audiences. (5) Continue with personal development without being confined within the bounds of international poster design competitions. TSAO, JUNG 曹融 2018 學位論文 ; thesis 211 zh-TW
