Summary:博士 === 元智大學 === 工業工程與管理學系 === 106 === An Exploration of Reminiscence Therapy Requirement Design of Human Computer Interaction: A Grounded Theory Approach Student:Yi-Jen Peng Advisors:Dr. Yee-Ming Chen Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Yuan Ze University ABSTRACT Along with global population aging, the population with dementia is increasing rapidly. Dementia is a disease of progressive cognitive decline, which is at the same time accompanied by multiple behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD). Dementia care brings about huge economic burden, and also the physical and mental load of family caregivers. There is currently a variety of adjunct therapies of non-drug treatment, which can improve the cognitive functions and psychological and behavioral symptoms of dementia patients. Further, integrating with intelligent technology to assist in dementia care is even the new trend in the future development of long-term care This study promotes the design concept of treatment with computer interactive reminiscence and conversation aids (CIRCA) through designing assistive activity support with action and life technology. An exploratory research was conducted based on the grounded theory, investigating the needs design for CIRCA, mainly with extracting the ideas of the design of reminiscence therapy platforms and capturing the needs of customers as its research aims. This study used the research method of the grounded theory in data analysis. As shown in the research results, three core categories, 9 axial categories and 24 concepts were summed up, with “dementia care needs” as the core need among them. Then, after the extraction by technical experts of the use needs of dementia caregivers with regard to the interface of the human-computer interactive system, a feasibility analysis of the system requirements was performed. This was then followed by a construction of customers’ needs, which serve as a reference for the design of the interface of the reminiscence aid system.
