Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 化學工程研究所 === 107 === Microporous carbon spheres (MCS) by extension Stöber method possess unique features of microporous structure, spherical shape and narrow particle size distribution. However, researchers continue to develop MCS with a smaller particle size and higher surface area. Here, we report the synthesis of nano-sized MCS by the modification of extension Stöber method, which is a simple, quick and scalable process. In addition, activation of nano-sized MCS using CO2 was conducted to increase the surface area of the MCS. As a result, the activated microporous carbon nanospheres (AMCS) were synthesized with a specific surface area of 3259.12 m2/g and a mean spherical size of 52 nm. To our best knowledge, in negards to MSC, this is the highest specific surface area and smallest particle size found in the literature. In addition, the hierarchical structure was created by the activation process which is beneficial for mass transport in the AMCS. The AMCS was studied for the supercapacitor application. The result showed that a capacitance of 225.25 F/g at a current density of 0.5 A/g in a 6 M KOH aqueous electrolyte can be obtained, indicating that the material has potential for supercapacitor application.
