We found that besides the reflection peaks resulted from the photonic stop band of the opal in the (111) direction of the face-centered cubic crystalline, we also observed anomalous peaks in shorter wavelength range. Then we investigate their behaviors as a function of TiO2 film thickness, and we found that these reflection peaks behave like Wood’s anomaly that results from the guided mode resonance of the incident light with the corrugated TiO2 films conformed to the opal structure.
