Summary: | 碩士 === 中華科技大學 === 土木防災與管理碩士班 === 107 === The global average temperature has been increasing 0.07 Celsius Degree each decade since 1880; the higher temperature even emerged for three consecutive years since 2014. The climate change causes great impact to the global environment and social economic system; the weather change overwhelms conventional weather pattern gradually. The drastic influence caused by El Niño / Anti- El Niño phenomena generates extreme temperature change or rainfall; which affects humans and boosts the spread of vector mosquito diseases indirectly.
The major dispersion of Dengue fever is transmitted through Aedes aegypti or albopictus with main distributions in tropical or subtropical areas. The climate change evokes the potency of dengue vector-borne disease with higher density on distribution of Aedes aegypti or albopictus, and gradual spatial and temporal expansion annually as well. Dengue vector mosquitoes owns highly meteorological sensitivity; those meteorological factors, include climate, humidity, rainfall, and even typhoon, trigger the distribution and the pathogenicity with identified research results among those major dengue-endemic regions. The fever boosted in Tainan in 2015 with infected patients over 18,000 till the end of October; which was much larger than predicted.
The outbreak of dengue fever in Tainan motivates this paper with application of temperature and rainfall data of Taichung by the Central Weather Bureau in 2018 in conjunction with the number of cases of dengue infection in that year from national Dengue disease statistics system by Taiwan Centers for Disease Control. The average temperature of Taichung between June to August in 2018 is 28.4 Celsius degree with annual cumulative rainfall of 1297 mm: the accumulated till June is up to 234mm, till July is 347mm, and 408.5 mm till August. The average temperature between June to August in 2015 exceeds 28.2 Celsius degree with annual cumulative rainfall of 1969 mm: the accumulated till June is 360mm, 277 mm till July, and 653 mm till August; the statistics are quite the same as the ones in 2018. Coincidently, Taichung is the city with the highest number of Dengue cases in Taiwan; which shows that temperatures continue to rise due to global warming, and the dengue fever seems to disperse from southern to northern Taiwan.
