In 2018, Taiwan has officially entered the state of an “aged society”. Aging decays the body function, causing chronic diseases. Moreover, mental disorder is highly likely to happen to those who retire from workplace due to the decrease in their social interaction. Such these often generate a great amount of health-care cost, which is a blow to society that we should never neglect. The purpose of this study is to explore whether a social intervention would bring positive effect on depressive mood of the elderly. Also, this study means to find out the relation between a social intervention and elderly depression. This research was conducted by survey approach. 190 usable responses in total were returned. The research questionnaires were evaluated with the use of SPSS and AMOS. The major findings of this study are summarized as the following. A negative correlation is found between a social intervention and elderly depression. In another word, a social intervention would reduce the depressive mood in the elderly. Finally, this study provides solid suggestions according to the findings, and hopefully could be applied in the domestic medical and academic units. LEE, CHENG-JONG 李城忠 2019 學位論文 ; thesis 63 zh-TW
