We discovered that the liquid deflection angle is related to the liquid viscosity, and as a result, developed a centrifugal viscometer for viscosity measurement. In our final design, a release delay fluidics was added to correct the error in the deflection angle that resulted from the premature release of the liquid. In addition, we also found the problem resulting in flow instability which resulted in a wide spread of the deflection angle and found a solution to prevent it from happening. Finally, we discovered a way to adjust the sensitive range of the viscosity measurement, The centrifugal viscometer has demonstrated the ability to gather information of liquid viscosity in a few seconds using a low-cost instrument, showing great potential in many industrial applications.
