These materials play important roles in aerospace and defense industries. However, typical composites are thin due to the cost consideration, and they can be damaged due to impact. Thus, to enhance the structural value, composites are often made in the form of a sandwich structure, which is light and yet strong and stiff, suitable for applications such as air-plane parts and industrial products. This thesis focuses on the making of a sandwich structure composed of carbon composite skins and the PU foam core. The material samples include different layer orientations, lay-ups and thicknesses. The tests include in-plane compression and bending. The results indicate that when the layer thickness is thinner, the overall strength is increased. The induced damage was examined by using an epoxy embedding method. After cutting and polishing, the section was observed by optical camera and SEM. The mechanism of crack growth due to the load was studied. 郭文雄 2019 學位論文 ; thesis 82 zh-TW
