Description
Summary:碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 經營管理碩士在職學位學程 === 107 === Taiwan has become an aging society. Population aging has given rise to many problems associated with the living arrangements of the elderly. Among them, residential arrangement is of the greatest significance. Housing planning for the elderly must consider many factors including the cultural background, health factors, and economic capabilities of the older population in various areas, as well as the planning of residential facilities and related policy incentives. Old-age housing is not just about satisfying the residential needs of the older population. It concerns how a home can transcend beyond a physical entity and become a space that brings both bodily and mental satisfaction to the elderly in their old age through comprehensive planning. As time has passed, Taiwan has transformed from a traditional society into an industrial and commercial society. The post-retirement housing arrangements of the elderly population entail the expectation that they will be looked after by their children living nearby. Thus, the two-generation household has become an emerging option among the living arrangements for the elderly. This study explored the feasibility of developing two-generation households in Taichung City and examined the supply and demand sides of such developments in the city, to understand and analyze the development and opportunities of this residential arrangement in Taichung City. Based on interviews with the suppliers and residents of residential housing, this study found that the most accessible and applicable solution is to adopt a universal design for planning age-friendly buildings with a living environment suitable for all ages, genders, and the needs of people with or without mobility difficulties, so as to achieve lifetime housing in line with the vision of “immobile residents.” The housing can incorporate a flexible design according to the needs of the family life cycle or install various barrier-free facilities to fully satisfy the residential needs of the elderly.
