Summary:碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 經營管理碩士在職學位學程 === 107 === Today, Taiwan truly is an ageing society. The death toll in Taiwan has increased year by year as baby boomers moving into old age, making funeral industries flourish. In 2016, 96% of Taiwanese select cremation method after their death. The most of them are then settled in a columbarium. However, there is few research regarding the discussion of columbarium and the development of burial customs. The purposes of this thesis are: analyzing the treatment of remains in recent years, researching the classification and evolution of the burial customs, defining the scope and categories of natural burials, and exploring the future development of burial customs. In addition, due to the similar religious culture, the difference in burial custom between Taiwan and Japan is also discussed in this paper. The research results show that there has an imbalance in supply and demand of cross-regional burial market, resulting in problems such as travel-worn and extra charges. Finally, about the development of natural burial market, it is still not able to evaluate due to the insufficient data. The growth in quantity is inevitable, but the strength of growth remains to be seen.
