Description
Summary:碩士 === 輔英科技大學 === 醫學檢驗生物技術系碩士班 === 107 === Abstract To ensure the quality of blood components and promote the safety of transfusion, Kaohsiung Blood Center followed clear defined SOP strictly such as the storage and transportation temperature and the storage equipments validation. Once the RBC unit is delivered from the blood bank, it should not be reused, mainly because of the lack of quality control. However, providing adequate temperature control, the re-use of these units is acceptable. Making good use of every blood donation, we provide transfer service for the blood components not transfused or near expiration date between hospitals. Since we are not able to control the storage managements of blood banks, it is necessary to confirm the quality of these transferred blood components. This study investigated quality of the packed-red blood cells (CPDA-1) stored at Kaohsiung Blood Center during storage by testing seven storage lesion related tests: Hemolysis, pH, Glucose, Lactate, Potassium, adenosine triphosphate (ATP), 2,3-diphosphoglycerate (2,3-DPG). In addition, we assessed whether quality differences of packed-red blood cells between storage at Kaohsiung Blood Center and transferred units returned from hospitals. The results showed that 1U and 2U packed-red blood cells (CPDA-1), pH and Glucose decrease; Hemolysis, Lactate and Potassium increase with storage time. There was no significant difference between the 1U and 2U packed-red blood cells stored at Kaohsiung Blood Center and transferred units returned from hospitals.
