Based on the research results specific recommendations are made as a reference for the teachers, schools, education authorities and the subsequent researchers. Through literature, we discuss the meaning and developing process of media literacy, think the ability of media literacy for senior graders in elementary school, adopting the investigation method of the questionnaire, filled out by of senior graders in one elementary school, focused on media usage, media literacy ability status, the ability differences of students from different personal background and habits in media literacy, and other related issues. The sample is based on the questionnaire survey data of the senior graders in one elementary schoohe in Kaohsiung City, and statistical analysis is performed by SPSS software. The major findings of this study were described as follows: 1. The Internet is the most popular medium, the next is television. 2. The frequency of using media is higher on holidays than on a normal day. 3. The major motivation for using media is for leisure and entertainment. 4. More than half of the students who use media accompanied by their parents. 5. The ability of media literacy of the senior graders are located in higher intermediate level. 6. The ability of media literacy of the senior graders performed best in media accessing. 7. Sixth-grade students had better scores than did the fifth-grade students. 8. The media literacy ability of the students not use media on a normal day is better than those who use it. 9. The media literacy ability of the students who has the less time to use media on holidays is better than who use the media for a longer period of time. 10. The media literacy ability is higher when accessing to media accompanied by parents always. 11. The better the performance of media, message analysis and media use, the better the overall media reading ability.
