Since ancient times, the purpose of the ancestors’ efforts has been to have one, that is, to let their descendants and grandchildren pass on the ancestors, and to pass on from generation to generation, life can live and work in peace.
The documentary "I need you." is the director's own family story. The director starts his own way and records the grandfather-Wu Jin-tu in the Republic of China in the 51st year of the Republic of China (38 years old). The story of Wufu chiensui’s selection as a starting point is extended to both parents and down to the descendants, divided into three parts.
The first part extends up to Wu Jin-tu's family education and life background. His father has the groom live with bride's family after marriage by his mother. Wu Jin-tu's mother, Xie-Shi, accepted how Wufu chiensui suddenly came to choose the only son, and talked with the gods about the conditions.
The second part records the process of getting along with the wife-Wu sui-chil, which is a child bride, and the life style of the adopted sister. It is also the stage where Wufu chiensui is coming, and the current influence on the Wu family.
The third part is Wu family branching, Wu Jin-tu's education and influence on the seven daughters and two sons, and Wufu chiensui is once again selected as the second son of Wu Jin-tu, Wu He-zhao, who is also the father of the director. Xie family ,The situation without the heirs has further affected the continuation of the descendants of the Wu family.
The Wu family also changed the past when the village was looked down upon and bullying until it was gradually accepted by the villagers. Finally, Wufu chiensui’s expectations and intentions for the family and the society, and the self-helpers, showed the permanent status of religion.
In this land of Taiwan, this is only one of the tiny stories, but it also represents the hardships of our ancestors, and it also symbolizes the fate of Taiwan's sweet potato and the power of religious belief. This documentary, which took more than three years of shooting on and off, and the historical image material used in the editing, most of the process is carried out by the camera alone, but it can have different thoughts and ideas in the shooting. Only by feeling and understanding can we know their greatness.
