The companies therefore strive to provide better working environments, employment contract terms, and welfare provisions as well as providing opportunities for employees to grow and nurture their talents. This research aims to explain the importance of employee motivation, describes the concept of motivation and how is linked with job satisfaction and employee performance, and identifies different motivational factors and their priority changes over time. The research was conducted in the context of Foreign Trade University (FTU) to determine the factors influencing its employee’s motivation. FTU has 795 permanent employees in three campuses located in Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh, Quang Ninh. Primary data was collected using semi-structured questionnaires. The questionnaire which has two sections contained both close-ended and open-ended questions. The first section of the questionnaire contained questions regarding the demographic data of the respondents and the second section contained questions relevant to the objective of the study. From the study it can be concluded that there are several factors affecting employees’ motivation at FTU which include employee development, pay and benefit, reward and recognition, work environment.
