Those parameters are then refined through multiple testing. As the circle of developing a new product is getting shorter and shorter, a more efficient design method is a must for the current trend. In the present study, experiments were conducted to establish the silicone-rubber stress-strain curves, which were used for conducting the finite element analysis. In order to validate the simulation, three actual products with silicone-rubber O-ring waterproof structure were used to find the correlation between the IPX7 immersion tests result and the simulation results. A critical pressure value to determine the waterproof ability was then established. To validate the critical pressure value, two silicone-rubber O-rings with different hardness (Shore Ⅰ, Shore Ⅱ) were applied and tested with the products.
