Basically, in the creative industries such as the film, music, and gaming industry, many creative talents will come together because of their similar values, and form a network of creative talents. This study analyzes the network of creative talents who participated in 1,190 films from the booming Taiwanese film industry between 1970 and 1989. We find that the more creative developer (director) and creative manager (producer) are in the intermediate of the network of creative talents, the more the number of awards and nominations the film has. This study argues that in addition to the personal qualities of creative talents, the “position” of creative talents embedded in a network means a higher level of creative competence. Hence, firms should pay more attention to the structure of a network of creative talents in order to effectively acquire talented personnel to improve the performance of creative product development.
