Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 建築研究所 === 107 === The aim of the thesis is to tackle the danger of contemporary architecture: the disconnection between people and space - lies in the emergence and interrelationship between different scales and social structures, and to re-graft the space perception of human. Thus architecture is able to regain its humanity, social responsibility, and vitality. When the society is filled with the symbolized, holographic spectacle, the spatial perception of the individual is burned out over time. People become the filler of space, and architecture is degraded, from the source that influences senses, into a carrier. Perception Regaining: Human Being is an action that deconstructs the labelled, symbolized space and human character, and releases the sensory inertia of the given environment. The plural sensory numbness will eventually become social consensus. The collective burnout will form a nomadic pursuit of style and trend. However, the pursuit itself is an illusion of spectacle. So it comes the loss of daily life, and a society that is harder and harder to satisfy. Scenario Creating: The Belt identifies the reason for the loss, and re-mediates the once flourish and eventful life, with a flexible, continuous, anti-labelled form of belt. When community-scale buildings become pioneers of action, the city need to incubate them with a proper system. Space Mending: Rhizome Landscape is the system composed with two ideas: Mat that returns the personal experience of city space, and the Archipelago that represents the ultimate function and form of city itself. The intertwined landscape forms the propulsion of space-mending in the disconnected city, and aims to take back the initiative of urbanization, which has long been led by market and consumption. Last but not least, people's perception of space has long been untied to the physical world, due to the limited physical space and the thriving technology of digital era. Context Mining: Non-Architecture illustrates the power of cartography when introduce new data, and develops a method of measuring context that used to be unknowable and unmeasurable. Eventually it becomes a design methodology that connects architect with contemporary society. With the possibility of mutual-referencing and further developing, all the actions aim to the very one target: re-plug-in the humanity into architecture, and make the existence of people once again crucial. Finally, the target is used as a guideline to make a conscious resistance to the danger of contemporary architecture.
