However, with the increasingly fierce competition in the international market, in the current global economy and manufacturing industry, the manufacturing industry faces global competition, short product life cycle, and diversification of customer demand, increased labor costs in various countries, rising material costs, and uncertainty in energy have brought about the need for new competitiveness in industrial manufacturing. Taiwan is moving toward future manufacturing. How to improve operational efficiency and increase the flexibility of complex products, speed up the pace of market launch and improve material quality and technology are critical for manufacture industry. the manufacturing industry has put forward corresponding strategies. Among them, intelligent manufacturing and the key to the industrial upgrading and transformation under the premise of mass production and strengthening production efficiency, the automation manufacturing strategy will be the new wave of this new era. It is important to improve production efficiency and automation to reduce manpower. to enhance the competitive advantage, enterprises need to introduce and evaluate production automation. This study is concentrated on the factory automation planning to support business strategy. we use case study to analyze the pros and cons of factory automation planning for a leading manufacturing company. Base on Resource-based theory, this study shed light on the balance of factory automation and manpower deployment in a global company. The findings indicate that manufacturing strategies must follow corporate strategies base on limited resource in a company.
