There are lots of similar device characteristics (e.g. temperature, voice, luminance, etc.) represented by different IoT devices. In order to simply reuse these characteristics and reduce the difficulty of development new IoT application, we develop an IoT system named IoTtalk. In IoTtalk, each IoT application is called "network application", which contains many different device characteristics called "device feature". In the idea of network application, we build abstractions on the top of device features, then developer can derive a modularized device application. IoTtalk introduces brick-like mechanism to construct a network application from device feature modules. Based on the concept of device feature, brick-like software modules can provide simple and efficient mechanism to develop IoT device applications and interactions. In terms of connection design, a lightweight messaging protocol MQTT is adopted in IoTtalk to reduce data transmission delay and increase the throughput of data transmitted. The main components of the IoTtalk server include CCM, GUI, DB, etc. This thesis describes the operation principle of IoTtalk, and provides the details of its implementation.
