In this qualitative research, previous references, data collection, and in-depth interviews are used to conduct a narrative analysis on two dimensions, Hakka three-character tea-picking opera and related references, and Li Sheng-Po’s promotion of Hakka three-character tea-picking opera at the Sinyangping Community College. References are used to analyze Hakka three-character tea-picking opera, the development of this art and culture, and its rise and fall with time. A narrative analysis is conducted on Li Sheng-Po’s origins in three-character tea-picking opera and his Hakka three-character tea-picking opera promotion experience from a Hakka traditional art perspective and inheritance of the three-character tea-picking opera mission. The vision, philosophy, and strategy that Li Sheng-Po used to promote Hakka three-character tea-picking opera at Sinyangping Community College is explored as well as difficulties encountered by the Sinyangping Community College Hakka three-character tea-picking opera club and their transformation strategy. This study also discovered that Li Sheng-Po had a philosophy of “if you are going to do something, do it to the best of your ability” when he learned mountain songs from Hu Quan-Xiong, huqin from Xie Qi-Guo and Hakka three-character tea-picking opera from Lai Bi-Xia. He used this philosophy in the promotion of Hakka culture, huqin playing, and Hakka three-character tea-picking opera at the Sinyangping Community College. Consequently, he has received recognition for both his teaching and his team exhibitions. Li not only received the non-standard course certification from the National Taiwan Normal University, but also received the teacher’s award. While Li promoted Hakka three-character tea-picking opera, he also promoted Hakka culture development in communities, trained Hakka talents and passed on Hakka three-character tea-picking opera, improved performance form, increased Hakka recognition and promoted integration of diverse ethnic groups. Keywords: Hakka culture, Hakka three-character tea-picking opera, Sinyangping Community College, Li Sheng-Po 陳定銘 王俐容 2019 學位論文 ; thesis 117 zh-TW
