Due to the changes of the times in Taiwan, the decision factors of the people who are in the childbearing age are very different from the traditional society in the past; this condition causes the fertility rate has been declining. According to the references of the feminism and empirical research, discovered the decision factors of fertility intention are related to the education level, income, labor force participation, domestic division of labor, child-care support system and etc. This research aims to study the decision factors of fertility intention for the families which own the preschool child already, and to make the suggestions for the government as the references for the policy formulation in the future. In this research, the method of in-depth interview was adopted. There are 12 families which own the preschool child have been interviewed. It was originally planned to interview a family as a unit. However, considering the intentions of interviewees, in 11 of these families, only one of the parent in each one of the families are interviewed. And only both of the parents of one family was interviewed at the same time. The actual number of the interviewees are 13 people, and seven of them have inner support system for child caring, and six of them have to find outer child-care support system. The results of the research are below:
1. The interviewees consider the decision factors of fertility intention are influenced by the income, work, domestic division of labor, child care support system and etc. 2. The suggestions for the policy formulation by the families which own the preschool child, are not only the financial subsidies, but providing completed child-care support system. In the meantime, to establish the parent-child centers and hold the forms to conduct the parents educating their children are also suggested.
