碩士 === 南華大學 === 國際事務與企業學系公共政策研究碩士班 === 107 === 　　The sensitive nerve of society was touched again when the paint- splattering accident happened at Cihu Mausoleum in February 28th 2018. Chiang Kai-Shek is a controversial leader. While he was taken as a national hero, he was also blamed as a autocratic killer. Ppublic opinion didn’t condemn the violent sabotage that seemly demonstrates their judgement. However, can we really have the final conclusion about Chiang Kai-Shek now? Should we “let bygones be bygones”? This study asserts that the judgement of a historical figure must be done under his/her proper historical context. The so-called “transitional justice” based on double standards or anachronism is not justice. People can accept this argument by persuasion. This is verified by the network questionnaire survey on the abolition of the Kai-shek Memorial Hall conducted by this study.
