Description
Summary:博士 === 國立高雄科技大學 === 工業工程與管理系 === 107 === Europe is famous for its quick development of industrialization and modernization and its growing economy depends on basic conditions in order to provide sources of electricity for lighting and machines. Increasing the electrical sector has advantages and disadvantages for human life; electricity consumption supports economic development by contributing to the gross domestic product (GDP) index, but it emits emissions including carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH¬4), and nitrous oxide (N2O). Thus, with the purpose of determining efficiency and inefficiency of European countries, the study is based on the actual values of 16 European countries during the period of 2008-2017 to estimate the ratio between inputs and outputs by an undesirable model in Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The ratio is a score that suggests efficiency, inefficiency, and ranking of countries in each of term. The empirical result proposes the correlation between variables to measure their relationship, and points out the influence level of electricity consumption on the environment in 16 European countries. If each country realized its current status of electricity consumption and Earth’s warming level, they can seek the means to upgrade efficiency.
