Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中山大學 === 中國文學系研究所 === 107 === Jia Ping wa (1952-) has a pivotal literary status in China. He has more than forty years of literary creation. His words such as “Turbulence”, “Ruined City” (or “The Abandoned Capital”),“Shaanxi opera”, “Old- Furnace” are all very popular. These works, whether they are about the rural or urban areas under reform, the survival dilemma of peasants and intellectuals, or the contradiction between tradition and modernity, are related to history, society and the relationship between people. Jia Ping wa assumes a heavy social responsibility and his works show a great deal of Psycho-emotions and destiny of people in the historical settings. Jia Ping wa “Old Furnace” shows the dilemma of the rural community, official corruption, especially distortion of human nature and the weakness of Chinese peasants and the morbid psychology of The Chinese. The potential influence of the social ideology of Cultural Revolution is how to form crowd mentality, and how to represent the historical, cultural, and psychological structure of The Chinese. This study intends to discuss these issues. Therefore, it will delve into the perspective of social psychology. In the “Old Furnace” the author expresses the psychological phenomena of historical society and people by describing the daily life of the old furnace villagers during the period of Cultural Revolution. The last part of this thesis uses the theory of Marxist G.V. Plekhanov (1856-1918) to illustrate the complex social psychological phenomena between the infrastructure and superstructure. Since “Old Furnace” describes many daily political events, how these episodes and the characters influence the explosion of the revolution, and what function do they play in the text? These are the questions that this study tries to answer and to point out its implied tragedy in analyzing “Old Furnace” from the perspective of narratology.
