All in all, this thesis aims to further analyze the backgrounds and aesthetic attitudes of Wordsworth’s and Shelley’s poems, examining the roles of incipient ecological ideas displayed in their works and exploring the impact to the future generation. And compare the attitudes and reflections of the two poets on related issues. Lee, Chia-jung 李佳容 2019 學位論文 ; thesis 84 en_US |

碩士 === 國立中山大學 === 外國語文學系研究所 === 107 === Abstract
The Romantic Movement began in the eighteenth century. During this period, the great writers opposed the old-fashioned of classicism. They praised nature and spread English literature all over the world. Later, the French Revolution and the Industrial Revolution also brought about world-shaking changes to these writers. In that time, the poets have rid themselves of the ideological system of the old ages and pursued the world they longed for. The most famous poet of this period is William Wordsworth, whose literary achievements have a far-reaching influence. Even we can see many features of him in the later poets’ work, such as Shelley and Keats. The theme of “Nature” was the trend of creation at the time. They advocate that human beings should return to nature, return to the origin of the beginning of all things, let nature purify the body and mind, and listen to the revelation and feedback that nature brings to us. The “Sublime” has also become the principle all their life. In recent years, the “ecological awareness” of ecological discourses has become the mainstream of contemporary literary analysis, and poetry in the Romantic period has been re-emphasized by the world.
