This study uses nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag model (NARDL) to analysis the case of Taiwan of asymmetric relationship between energy consumption and economic growth in the period of 1983Q1-2017Q4. The research show that there is the asymmetric relationship between energy consumption and economic growth in case of Taiwan, and the negative impact of energy consumption on economic growth is greater than the positive change in energy consumption in the short-run. Therefore, we should pay attention to the negative impact of energy conservation policies on economic growth in the short run. In the long run, the positive change in energy consumption is greater than the impact of negative changes on economic growth. Therefore, the increase in energy consumption will have a more significant impact than the reduction in energy consumption in the long run. Shan-non Chin 曾憲郎 2019 學位論文 ; thesis 37 zh-TW
