The purpose of this study is to explore the motivations, content, problems and responses of each parent in participating in the municipal primary school volunteer service, as well as their personal growth and impact. The study also provides the advice for new immigrant parents, schools, educational administration, and future researchers on relevant topics. The case study method is adopted in this study. The researcher had entered the case school for about half a year, and had conducted the research on the four new immigrant parents’ participating in elementary school volunteer service. Parents and related school staff had been interviewed for several times. After that, the researcher collated the interviews into verbatim drafts. Based on the research results, this study proposes eight research conclusions as follows: 1. The new immigrants' parents started to participate in volunteer services when their children attended kindergartens. The main reasons for participation include understanding the child's learning status, caring for children, and being affected and giving back to the school. 2. The motivation of new residents' parents to continue to be volunteers comes from the sense of responsibility and commitment. What’s more, they think they can accompany their children to grow up and they are happy in the process of volunteer service. 3. The way how the school and the parents of the new residents cooperate with each other: First, the school proposes the vacancy of the volunteer service in each office. Second, the parents of the new residents choose what they want to do according to their interests, abilities, and time. 4. New residents' parents believe that participating in volunteer service can help children learn better and they think they are making good parenting, but it is not positive-related with their kids’ academic performance. 5. The expectations of the parents of the new residents' parents and the school administrators for the volunteer service content are clearly different. 6. The new volunteers of the new residents need to go through a period of integration into school affairs and overcoming difficulties. When they have difficulties, the head of the volunteer service or other volunteers would help them. 7. How to strike a balance between work, family and volunteer service is a challenge for new residents' parents to continue to participate in volunteers. 8. Expanding the life circle, gaining a sense of accomplishment, and being more integrated into Taiwanese society are what the new residents' parents get from the volunteer service. These are also the important factors for the parents to continue being the volunteers at school. According to the conclusions of this research, this study proposes 13 advices on the educational administration, schools, parents of new residents and future researches.
